Smart Sensors
We supply a range of industrial smart sensors for the measurement of temperature, humidity, pulse counting and electrical variables for OEM, IoT & IIoT markets.
Smart sensors simplifie electronic design in packages that are ready to go.
What is a sensor?
Our smart sensors contain all the necessary circuitry to convert a measured quantity into a digital signal in a package that is ready to go.
Smart sensors are designed for use with OEM equipment to measure real time enviromental conditions accurately and reliably. They reduce design and development time and get your product to market faster.

How smart sensors work
Each sensor integrates the sensing element, analogue front end, analogue to digital converter and digital processing to provide a linearised digital output. All of which are embedded into the sensor cable.
What can I measure?
We supply an extensive range of sensor types to measure almost any environmental condition either directly, or by using third party specialised equipment with a 4-20mA or voltage output.
Tek Troniks smart temperature sensors are designed to replace standard cable type temperature sensor assemblies but provide a fully calibrated, linearized digital output. We provide sensor assemblies that cover a wide measurement range of -200°C to 1300°C with accuracies up to ±0.1°C.
We can read NTC thermistors, PT100 & PT1000 RTD's and thermocouple sensor types.
Additionally we can supply bespoke assemblies and can even add our sensing technology to your existing temperature sensors.
Our sensors offer:
- High accuracy to ±0.1°C
- Resolution to 0.01°C
- Optional UKAS calibration
DS300 series high accuracy smart humidity sensors provide a fully calibrated, linearized digital output over the range of 0-100%RH with accuracies up to ±1.5%RH. They are ideal for measuring general humidity in offices, warehouses and temperature controlled storage facilities.
Our sensors offer:
- High accuracy to ±1.5%RH
- UKAS traceability
Smart pulse sensors count pulses for the measurement of energy and flow. Our sensors connect direct to the meters pulsed output and provide an incremental count of the number of pulses. The circuit also measures the time period between the last two pulses in order to calculate the instantaneous value of the energy used. There is no requirement for an external pullup resistor on the meter output resulting in an average sleep current of only 60uA.
Our sensors offer:
- Measurement of energy and flow
- Low operating power
Our DS300 series smart counting sensors measure the status of plant and machinery via a volt free contact. The sensor connects directly to the contact output and provides a digital signal indicating the status of the contact together with an incremental count of the number of switches. The circuitry requires no external pull-up resistors and offers an average sleep current of 60uA.
Our sensors offer:
- Status measurement of plant and machinery
- Door open/closed status
- Active internal pull-ups require no external circuitry
The DS300 linear conversion sensors converts current and voltage to a physical value such as temperature, pressure, wind, light or any other physical quantity.
4-20mA and voltage input sensors provides a bridge to interface to industry standard meters.
Our sensors offer:
- Industry standard 4-20mA,0-2,0-10V
- High accuracy
DS300 series smart sensors offer low power consumption, proven reliability and share a common digital interface.

UKAS Calibration
Our smart temperature and humidity sensors can be supplied with fully traceable UKAS certificates.
As the calibration is applied to the smart sensors there is no need for the host electronics and sensor to be calibrated as a pair.
This makes the sensor ideal for applications where the sensor may need to be replaced in the field.
Why use smart sensors?
Our expertise in manufacturing sensors means we can offer a solution at a fraction of the cost to develop your own. This allows you to concentrate on what you do best and gets your product to market faster.
Reduced time to market
Digital smart sensors offer precise, reliable cost effective solutions for OEM & IoT applications.
Large range of sensor types
We supply a range of off-the-shelf sensor types and can manufacture bespoke sensors for specific customer needs.
Optional factory calibration
Temperature and humidity sensors can be supplied will fully traceable calibration certificates from our onsite UKAS ISO 17025:2017 accredited laboratory.
Out of the box, ready to go solution
All our sensors connect via a standard serial bus interface with the output requiring no calibration or linearization.
Simplifies design
All our sensors use a common serial connection and can connect to any electronic device with a serial bus. Data is transferred asynchronous using just a single IO line. As its digital there is no loss of accuracy.
The value being read is the actual value with no calibration or linearization required.
- Simplifies electronic design
- Each smart sensor has a unique ID
- Minimal board space
- Field replaceable
- Easy to multiplex
Approvals
Tek Troniks smart sensors have been tested to BS EN61326-1 and 47CFR Part15, Sub Part B.
